In some special cases, the weight of the goods that need to be transported by large-scale transport vehicles can reach 500t or even 1000t, so that one vehicle cannot complete the transportation task alone, and often requires two or more tractors to cooperate in transportation. So, what are the types of large-scale transportation methods?
1. Single-vehicle traction
This is also a common transportation method, which is not much different from ordinary cargo transportation. It is generally transported by large-scale transport tractors, semi-trailers or hydraulic semi-trailers. It is suitable for large-scale transportation with a total weight of less than 250t.
2. Single-vehicle traction plus top push
Also called top pusher transportation, as the name suggests, it is to use a tractor or semi-trailer to transport in the front, and add a tractor at the back, and use a top push rod tripod to connect its front and the rear of the vehicle carrying the goods, so that the rear tractor can push the trailer.
This transportation method can use a semi-trailer or a full trailer. It is generally used for large-scale transportation below 350t. When the traction force of a single vehicle is insufficient, it is used with a rear tractor. However, in order to prevent the tires of the rear tractor from slipping, appropriate counterweights are generally added to the rear tractor to improve the adhesion of the rear tires and give full play to the power of the rear vehicle.
3. Double-vehicle traction plus jacking
The principle is similar to single-vehicle traction plus jacking, except that the number of tractors is different. The two tractors in the front are generally hydraulic full trailers, which are connected to the front beam of the trailer through hinges. The two tractors in the rear are also connected to the rear beam of the trailer through hinges. The four tractors exert force at the same time to complete the transportation task. The tractors can be towed side by side or in series. Since the tractor uses a full trailer, the weight of the cargo can be evenly distributed to each tire.
This mode of transportation is suitable for large-scale transportation with a total weight of less than 500t. It has high requirements for road surface and terrain. The rear tractor also needs counterweights to ensure sufficient power.
4. Multiple-vehicle traction plus top-pushing
For heavier goods, such as large-scale transportation with a total weight of more than 500t, multiple-vehicle traction plus top-pushing can be used to ensure sufficient power. The connection method is the same as double-vehicle traction plus top-pushing.
It is worth noting that when the number of tractors or top-pushing vehicles exceeds one, it is necessary to report to the relevant departments in advance, explore the transportation route in advance, and complete the transportation within the specified time and route under the unified organization, road opening, flow control, and supervision of the relevant departments. In some cases, it may be necessary to build roads and bridges by yourself. In addition, during the transportation process, the coordination between multiple tractors is crucial, and their gears, speeds and other parameters must be consistent. When encountering ups and downslopes, the front and rear vehicles need to be adjusted to ensure the balance of power between the front and rear.
The commonly used models of large-scale transport vehicles are mainly flatbed trucks, ladder trucks, groove trucks, etc. From the axle classification, they can be mainly divided into three-line three-axle, three-line six-axle, four-line eight-axle, five-line ten-axle, and so on. Because the type of goods it transports is rather special, higher requirements are placed on the vehicle's various configuration parameters, such as the vehicle's load-bearing capacity.
